Frozen Vegetable Recall

A voluntary recall made by CRF Frozen Foods of Pasco, Washington for 15 frozen vegetable items has residents concerned. The vegetables have the possibility of being contaminated with Listeria monocytogenes which is known to cause sometimes fatal infections according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration.

While no illnesses have reported as of yet, the Listeria organism is particularly worrisome for children, the frail and elderly as well as those with weakened immune systems. Those who are healthy may only experience short-term symptoms such as fever, headache, stiffness, abdominal pain, nausea and diarreah. For women who are pregnant, there is a risk of miscarriage and stillbirths according to the FDA.

Recalled items were sold in plastic bags and are marked with “Use By Dates” located on the back of the package. Listed below are details regarding the recalled items, including their UPC codes and “use-by” dates:

The FDA says the agency knows the recalled frozen vegetables were distributed to retailers and distribution centers between Sept. 13, 2015, and March 16 of this year in Florida and states nationwide.
